Artificial Intelligence and Community Development in the 21st Century

Abstract

Artificial intelligence is profoundly influencing community development in the 21^st century. Its impact spans various sectors, from education and healthcare to economic and public safety. This paper examines the positive and negative impact of Artificial Intelligence on community development, the strategies involved in ensuring Artificial Intelligence can adequately be utilized to enhance community development, as well as the prospects of utilizing Artificial Intelligence for community development. Artificial Intelligence brings with it a set of advanced, analytical tools and capabilities that can revolutionize the way community development projects are conceived, developed and executed. It has enormous potential to positively impact every aspect of our lives in a systematic way. Therefore, it is essential to explore its capacity to address social issues through community development interventions. The paper suggested, among other considerations, that community development experts should develop ambitious programmes to enable access to high-quality, relevant and reliable data, and to invest in secure frameworks that provide access to data and/or actionable insights derived from the data, even when the data are privately held.
